What is CBD oil?

CBD, cannabidiol in full, has been becoming increasingly popular for several years. It is the active substance that is extracted from the leaves and flowers of fibrous hemp, a hemp variety that can be grown legally. Our CBD is sold in the form of oil. Although the scientific research is still underway, users say that CBD oil offers relief for many physical and mental ailments. CBD oil is not psycho-active because it contains little or no tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC).

The importance of fertile soil and clean growing conditions

To obtain as natural an end product as possible, the hemp is grown in a dry climate on soil that has never before been used intensively for agriculture. Far from industry, the plants stay clean – outside and inside. After all, the hemp root will penetrate to one and a half metres deep, exploiting minerals and water from the deeper soil layers. It is important that no contamination is present there. No pesticides are used. Lab tests have shown that no agricultural toxins are present, neither in the plants nor in the end product.

Eco-friendly production (supercritical CO2 extraction)

In order to keep quality optimal and all the substances (over 100!) in the hemp intact, we work at low temperatures using supercritical CO2 extraction. Supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) is an eco-friendly, non-toxic solvent used in our process for CBD production. CO2 is cooled and compressed to 73 atmospheres. By subsequently varying the temperature and pressure, it is possible to extract the desired full spectrum of cannabinoids, making them available in the form of paste. Supercritical CO2 extraction employs no chemical solvents that are environmentally harmful. Furthermore, the CO2 can be recycled and used again. This production method is therefore eco-friendly and sustainable.

What is the difference between full spectrum CBD and isolate CBD?

There are currently more than 100 known cannabinoids. A full spectrum contains about 90% or more CBD, together with a natural ratio of cannabinoids, terpenes and other active substances. An isolate CBD is processed to be as pure as possible, >99.9%. CBD isolate contains only pure, separated CBD. In an isolate, no other cannabinoids, terpenes or flavonoids are present.

It is this ‘full spectrum’ form of CBD oil that allows you to benefit from the entourage effect. In other words, the way in which CBD works in synergy with other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Full spectrum CBD is the most natural form, as given to us by Mother Nature.

When should I opt for isolate CBD?

Isolate CBD is the purest form (with a purity of at least 99.9%). All other cannabinoids have been deliberately eliminated to achieve the maximum purity. Because this isolate version is guaranteed free of THC (check our lab tests), an isolate CBD is eminently suitable for professional athletes who have to submit to dope tests but still want to profit from the beneficial effects of CBD oil.

Are there any side effects?

In general, CBD oil, in our recommended concentrations and without THC, has no side effects and can be used by virtually everyone. Please read our warning regarding usage before purchasing this product. The use of CBD is strongly discouraged in children, men or women who wish to have children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in case of liver disease or in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the CBD supplement. Legality of high quality CBD oil

In various countries, CBD oil is legal and/or accepted as a nutritional supplement (providing that the correct quality requirements are met). A generally supported outlook on CBD throughout the EU is still to come. EU regulation 1307/2013 and the novel food catalogue support the use of Cannabis Sativa L. with a maximum percentage of THC below 0.2%. Synthetic CBD and ratios of THC higher than 0.2% are strictly prohibited. Also, doses of 160 mg of CBD per day are regarded as a medication rather than a supplement.
